TIBALDI captures the essence of one of the most venerated Islamic sites of worship
Following the exclusive series of writing instruments “Sanctus Michael Archangelus” and the “Iesus”, respectively celebrating the Orthodox and the Catholic religions, the new Tibaldi Qubbat Al-Sakhra limited edition pays tribute to Islam. To contribute to the designers’ inspiration is the shrine Dome of the Rock (Arabic name – Qubbat Al-Sakhra).
Located on the Temple Mount in the Old City of Jerusalem, this sanctuary, initially completed in 691 CE, is often referred to as Jerusalem’s most recognizable landmark.
The Qubbat Al-Sakhra significance stems from the religious traditions regarding the rock, known as the Foundation Stone, which lies at the heart of the edifice. Islamic scholars believe that the location of this temple is the very spot from which the Islamic prophet Muhammad ascended to Heaven accompanied by the angel Gabriel. Though Muslims now pray towards the Kaaba at the Mecca, they once faced the Temple Mount of Jerusalem.
